ISEQ edges towards 8000

The ISEQ index of Irish shares edged closer towards the 8000 barrier this morning, rising 15.41 points to 7947.01 by 11am.

The financials enjoyed mixed fortunes. Both Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Life and Permanent rose 12c to €13.60 and €18.60 respectively. Bank of Ireland gained 4c to €15.04.

AIB bucked the trend, slipping 5c to €19.95.

Elsewhere drinks company C&C rose 15c to €5.85.

Getmobile Europe gained 2c to 41c, a rise of over 5% in their stock value.
