Older people in Ireland experience significant discrimination in accessing the workforce, and when seeking promotion in work.

This is one of a number of inequalities suffered by vulnerable groups in the labour market, highlighted in the latest report by the National and Social Economic Forum.

Head of the Equality Authority Neill Crowley said that while Ireland has the right legislation in place to protect older people, it is too often ignored.

And 63% of Irish traveller children leave school early despite annual spending of over €630 million on educational disadvantage.

Mr Crowley claimed that the school system and curriculum needs to become more flexible to the needs of traveller children.
