BSkyB has said its Q1 results for the three months to September 30 show "strong growth for Sky in Ireland".

BSkyB has said its Q1 results for the three months to September 30 show "strong growth for Sky in Ireland".

Subscribers to Sky Digital reached 372,000 - an increase of 9,000 for the quarter - and 40,000 over the last 12 months, representing year on year growth of over 12%.

More than a quarter of all households in Ireland now subscribe to Sky Digital. In total, Sky channels are available to more than two thirds of all households via cable/mmds and Sky digital.

Sky Ireland boss Delia Bushell said: "We are firmly committed to continuing to invest and innovate in Ireland, including the launch of high definition television services in the first half of 2006."
