Air cargo giants open Cork offices
IAM — Ireland’s largest cargo GSSA (general sales and service agent) company — has opened a new sales office in Cork, to enhance the service it provides to its airline principals and their freight agent customers.
Centrally located for the airport’s agency community, the office will be headed up initially by IAM Sales Director Tracy Murphy.
The office will also cover the Shannon Airport market. IAM Cork will be connected directly to the company’s central reservations system.
Ms Murphy said: “The Cork and Shannon markets account for some 45% of all air freight from Ireland, and our decision to open an office here will ensure that IAM’s 11 client-carriers continue to obtain their fair share of traffic from these regions.”
The opening of the new office followed on from the launch in April of IAM’s air cargo-handling operations, ITC Handling, with bases at Dublin, Shannon and Belfast. A further base at Cork is also under consideration.
All locations have nightly express road feeders to connect with additional airline departures from Dublin, London and Manchester.
IAM is committed to helping its airline principals provide a full air freight product throughout Ireland, and the new Cork office is a further step towards this goal,” added Ms Murphy.
The company now controls around 20% of the Irish airfreight market.
