Tullow Oil boss celebrates Entrepreneur of the Year award

Tullow Oil boss and founder Aidan Heavey has been named as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Mr Heavey also won in the international category, from a field of eight finalists.

The Tullow boss was presented with his award by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment Micheal Martin and judges' chair Denis O’Brien.

Founded in Dublin in 1986, Tullow Oil is an independent oil and gas, exploration and production group, quoted on the London and Irish Stock Exchanges.

The company began gas production and sales in Senegal in 1987 and now has the largest spread of interests of any oil company in Africa and also a significant presence in the UK.

It has 200 employees and 200 full-time contractors.
