O’Regan appointed new editor of Independent

Gerard O'Regan has been appointed as the new editor of the Irish Independent.

The 55-year-old has been at the helm of the Evening Herald for the past six years.

He's previously worked as editor of the Star and deputy editor at the Independent.

He replaces Vinnie Doyle, who has been editor at the newspaper for 24 years.
