Gloom prevails as ISEQ falls 31 points

The ISEQ ended the day 31.09 points down to 6523.97.

Business support services company DCC gained 50c to stand at €17. The company announced this morning that it has budgeted for about 70% of operating profit to be earned in the second half of the year.

Hotel group Jury's Doyle were close behind with a 45c rise €15.70.

CRH had the largest fall of the day as their share price tumbled 45c to €21.74. The building material group reported poor business in Europe due to adverse weather conditions, but reported good progress in America.

The gloom continued in the construction sector as Grafton lost 17 cents on the share price to stand at €9.18.

The financials couldn't escape the negative mood as all the banks except Irish Life and Permanent, who climbed 12c to €14.42, saw their stock fall today. Bank of Ireland fell eight cents to €13.40, while AIB fell eleven cents to €17.67 and Anglo Irish Bank decreased to €10.36.

Iona Technologies also saw their shares go down 15c to €2.25, but pharmaceutical firm Elan stopped the rot with a 12c rise to €5.50.
