In its quarterly report published today, covering the first quarter of 2005, ComReg revealed that narrowband internet subscribers increased by 3% while broadband subscribers increased by 16% quarter on quarter. DSL continues to be the fastest growing retail broadband platform.

In the fixed-line telephone sector, there are now over 350,000 Carrier Pre-Select (CPS) lines, over 107,000 of which are wholesale line rental or single bill customers.

The number of SMS messages sent has increased over the period, and currently each Irish mobile subscriber sends an average of 92 messages per month.
