The Irish Insurance Federation has reportedly claimed the use of uninsured cars is pushing up insurance premiums in Ireland by around 7%.

Reports this morning said the federation told the Oireachtas Enterprise Committee yesterday that between 60,000 and 70,000 uninsured vehicles were being driven in Ireland every day.

The IIF reportedly said the problem was growing again following a temporary respite when the display of insurance discs became compulsory.
