Ecocem announces sales quadrupling

Green cement provider Ecocem, which operates a €10m manufacturing facility in Dublin Port, announced today that the use of its environmentally friendly cement will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions well in excess of 150,000 tonnes for the year 2005.

The Irish company says it is now on a high growth curve with sales of GGBS cement expected to at least quadruple on its 2004 volumes.

Ecocem said use of GGBS cement will also result in cost savings of several million euro per annum when the Emissions Trading Scheme comes into fiscal effect in 2008.

Founded by entrepreneur Donal O’Riain, Ecocem operates cement manufacturing facilities in Dublin Port and in Moerdijk in Holland.
