New telecoms firm planning move into Irish mobile market

An Irish-owned telecommunications firm has announced plans to enter the mobile market in competition with Vodafone, O2 and Meteor.

Perlico Communications, which already operates fixed-line and broadband services, said it had informed the communications regulator (ComReg) of its intention to set up a mobile operation.

The company said the move was prompted by a ComReg ruling forcing Vodafone and O2 to provide competitors with access to their networks in order to challenge their market dominance.
