UK mobile group 3 enjoys sales boost
UK mobile phone group 3 revealed today it had signed up more than three million UK customers after benefiting from increased demand for “third generation” multi-media technology.
3, owned by Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa, said it had 3.02 million UK users as of yesterday, compared with 361,000 a year earlier.
Improving 3G technology, which allows people to make video calls, a wider range of handsets and improved network coverage were among the factors contributing to the increase.
