Report backs ban on below-cost selling

An Oireachtas Committee has recommended the retention of an order which stops stores selling goods below the recommended retail price.

The ban is meant to stop chain stores and multi-nationals using their bulk-buying power to unfair advantage.

The Interim Report from the Oireachtas Committee on Enterprise and Small Business says the order protects small shop owners and customers.
