ISEQ stays positive with 29-point rise
The ISEQ's morning rises have been cut back slightly to leave the index up 29.53 points to 6798.3 today.
Elan was the biggest mover of the day with a 50c rise to €21.55 on the company’s announcement of a successful two-year trial for a new multiple sclerosis drug.
Business services group, DCC, also had a positive day with a 34c increase to €18.35, while Trinity Biotech saw their shares go up by 25c to €2.45.
Other big risers came in the construction sector, with CRH up 41c at €22.06 and Abbey trading up 15c tt €9.50.
There was mixed news for firms in the food sphere as Glanbia saw a 17c rise in their stock to €3.22 while IAWS had a 12c fall to €12.30. Donegal Creameries recorded a rise of ten cents to stand at €4.60 by the end of the day.
Diageo was unchanged from its opening price of €14.42. The company announced 2005 fiscal H1 profits of £869m (€1.256bn), down from the previous year’s £891m (€1.289bn).
AIB was up 5c at €16.15, Bank of Ireland was down 10c to €12.77.
Anglo Irish Bank was unchanged at €20.30, and Irish Life and Permanent was up a cent at €14.66.
