ISEQ slips 13.94 as Elan shares slide
The ISEQ began the week in the red today, falling 13.94 points to close the day at 6,160.55.
Shares in Allied Irish Bank climbed 5c today to €14.95 while Bank of Ireland shares fell 6c to €11.97.
Anglo Irish Bank shares slipped 3c to €17.87. Irish Life & Permanent shares performed strongly, climbing 10c to €13.65.
Elsewhere Tullow Oil remained climbed 5c to €2.17 today as it announced it has entered agreements with Shell and Esso to purchase their entire producing interests in the Schooner and Ketch gas fields and surrounding acreage.
Two of the ISEQ's big pharmaceutical shares fell back today. Elan shares plummeted 60c to €19.60 today while Warner Chilcott shares fell 23c to €12.22.
Insurance group FBD climbed 30c to €19.10, while business support group DCC enjoyed a strong day as shares climbed 14c to €15.95.
The most traded shares today were Ryanair, CRH, Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Bank and Irish Life & Permanent.
