Grimson appointed as IRCSET chair

Minister for Education and Science Mary Hanafin and The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) have today announced the appointment of Professor Jane Grimson as chair of the council.

Minister for Education and Science Mary Hanafin and The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) have today announced the appointment of Professor Jane Grimson as chair of the council.

The council comprises a board of senior academic and industrial figures and a directorate overseeing strategic research funding initiatives in the national interest.

IRCSET operates under the auspices of the Department of Education and Science and the National Development Plan.

Professor Grimson brings a wealth of research and strategic policy development experience to her new role.

She is vice-president of Trinity College Dublin, a Cchartered engineer, a fellow and past president of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and president of the Irish Academy of Engineering, Trinity College.
