B&Q opens third Irish store

DIY retailer B&Q has opened its third Irish store in the Airside Retail Park in Swords, Co Dublin.

DIY retailer B&Q has opened its third Irish store in the Airside Retail Park in Swords, Co Dublin.

The 50,000 square foot store has 24,000 products available as well as benefiting from timber cutting and paint mixing services.

About 100 people will be employed at the store. The opening of the Swords store brings the total number of people employed by B&Q in Ireland to more than 500.

B&Q plans to open a further seven stores in Ireland over the next four years.

Speaking at the opening of the new store, Diarmuid Walsh, B&Q's Director of Operations in Ireland said that he hoped that the new Minister for Environment, Dick Roche TD will consider relaxing the current cap on planning guidelines.
