Jaguar workers to be balloted on strike action
Thousands of Jaguar workers in Britain are to be balloted on strike action as part of a campaign to fight the ending of car production at their factory, it was announced today.
Ballot papers will be issued next week to workers at the plant in Coventry, where production of the luxury models is due to end with the loss of more than 1,100 jobs.
Britain's Transport and General Workers Union and Amicus announced the ballot ahead of a huge demonstration in Coventry on Saturday aimed at stepping up pressure on Jaguar’s owner Ford to retain production at the historic Browns Lane site.
