Ahern launches e-net in Limerick

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was in Limerick today to launch e-net, a company given a 15-year contract by the Government to manage the regional broadband network.

This marks the latest step in the Government’s programme which is building broadband infrastructure through 60 cities and towns throughout Ireland.

The building of the broadband networks, officially officially known at MANs (Metropolitan Area Networks), “will make the Irish regions significantly more attractive for inward investment, and will help make balanced regional development in Ireland a reality and not a mere aspiration”, according to Michael Tiernan, chief executive of e-net.
