Renewable energy company Airtricity has applied for permission to build a £480m (€688m) wind farm in the Upper Clyde Valley, in South Lanarkshire in Scotland.

Renewable energy company Airtricity has applied for permission to build a £480m (€688m) wind farm in the Upper Clyde Valley, in South Lanarkshire in Scotland.

The proposed site will feature 173 turbines and will create more than 270 jobs.

Airtricity is one of Europe's leading fully integrated renewable energy companies and is focused in wind farm development, finance and ownership of wind farms and green electricity supply.

The company's head office is in Dublin.
