ISEQ down, as Ryanair and Indo make gains
The ISEQ closed down 13.02 points at 5617.18 today, as the FTSE continued its downward slump.
Ryanair gained 8c (2.2%) to close strongly at €3.75, as the low-fares airline announced a deal with low-cost coach company Terravision to provide transport services for passengers to and from Italy.
Independent News and Media was also trading strongly, up 3c (1.4%) at €2.19.
Irish Life & Permanent made a gain of 16c (1.2%) to €13.22, but the rest of the financials were in the red.
AIB was the day’s most-traded share, and lost 17c (1.2%) to close at €13.73.
Anglo Irish Bank was down 4c at €14.93, while Bank of Ireland lost 3c to close at €10.96.
Building materials group CRH slipped 19c to close at €18.93.
Kingspan was down 3c at €5.89. The construction company announced today that it is pumping €10m into two Polish production plants.
Elan sold its stake in fellow pharmaceutical Warner Chilcott for £57.2m (€83.4m). Its share price slipped 2c to €17.78, while Warner Chilcott’s was steady at €12.00.
Eircom gained 1c to close at €1.56 on the day of an uneventful AGM.
