Marks & Spencer is looking to recruit up to 350 extra customer assistants to work in its stores and coffee shops across the Republic of Ireland.

Linda Lynch, Marks & Spencer, said: "Marks & Spencer is an amazing place to be in the run-up to Christmas. We're looking for enthusiastic, flexible people to join our active team and make our stores as festive and welcoming as possible."

In return for working at least 16 hours a week, including a minimum of one weekday evening, as well as at weekends, Marks & Spencer will provide a competitive benefits package.

This seasonal hiring is just one element of a major recruitment drive underway by Marks & Spencer in Ireland.

The retailer has created 300 new jobs at its new Blanchardstown store, scheduled to open on November 4, and is also looking to recruit a further 400 staff for its new Dundrum store which will open in March 2005.
