IBM expands managed services division

IBM has announced that it is expanding its managed services offering with the opening of a dedicated data centre in association with new business partner, Servecentric.

The contract will see IBM take dedicated floor space within Servecentric's world-class facility in Blanchardstown allowing the company to offer its clients an enhanced service in the IBM managed services product offering.

According to IBM, the opening of the new data centre will mean that the company will now be able to offer an improved service to its customers by taking advantage of Servecentric's fully operational N+1 capabilities and combine it with IBM's service delivery organisation to provide a 24-hour operation for its clients.

Tom Walsh, managed services manager at IBM, said: "The opening of the IBM Data Centre with integrated 24/7 operations on site marks a significant enhancement to the managed services portfolio we now have in Ireland.

"Increasingly businesses are looking at this service in order to ease the pressure on an already over utilised IT department or to enable them to concentrate their effort on core competencies by employing a managed service approach.

"The world-class facilities at Servecentric will enable us to offer one of the best infrastructure services in the country to our clients, resulting in reliability and cost efficiency that will help ensure their business remains competitive."

Among the IBM Clients who are already using the IBM Data Centre, with a dedicated Health Suite are: the Midland Health Board, St James' Hospital and the national SAP projects for the Irish Health Agencies.
