Diageo among heavy-hitters to announce results

The pace of corporate news is set to quicken this week with heavyweights including spirits group Diageo and Associated British Ports due to report. Results are also expected in the UK engineering, pubs and leisure sectors.

Drinks giant Diageo issued a trading statement at the start of July which pointed to sales growing by 6% before acquisitions, but said a number of factors such as restructuring costs and adverse currency movements would restrain profits.
