€7m electronic research facility to be built in Cork

The Tánaiste Mary Harney has announced plans to establish a national institute for networking and electronics research in Cork.

The Tánaiste Mary Harney has announced plans to establish a national institute for networking and electronics research in Cork.

Ms Harney said the €7m facility would be developed as a partnership between the Department of Enterprise, University College Cork and Science Foundation Ireland.

She said it would be located on the Lee Maltings campus close to UCC and would conduct research into electronics, photonics and networking technologies.
