Bewley's set up cafe access to wireless technology
Esat BT has announced it has signed a contract to provide Bewley's Oriental Café on Grafton Street, with its public wireless local area network (WLAN) technology, BT Openzone.
The technology allows people to access the internet and to get a secure and fast connection to corporate networks, without plugging in to phone lines.
BT Openzone will be available in Bewley's James Joyce Room.
According to Dermot DeLoughry (General Manager, Bewley's Oriental Cafés), making wireless internet access available in this way, will drive traffic to the café.
Bewley's is the latest hospitality venue to offer its customers wireless high-speed internet access.
There are currently more than 85 BT Openzone access points on the island of Ireland at locations such as hotels, conference centres, and universities.
Paul Convery (BT Openzone Manager Ireland, BT NI) said: "With Wi-Fi, businesspeople can lead a much more flexible lifestyle and no longer have to travel back and forth to the office to simply check emails or go online."
Users can pay for the BT Openzone service through vouchers from BT Openzone sites, or by a subscription from Esat BT.
