71% of standard post delivered in a day, says survey

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) has published its first annual report on the quality of service performance of An Post.

The results indicate that 71% of single piece priority mail - standard correspondence - is delivered within one working day throughout the State, rising to 96% of mail delivered within three working days.

Mail posted in Dublin showed a 70% next (working) day delivery rate, whereas 73% of mail posted outside Dublin was delivered the following day.

Only 68% of mail posted outside Dublin for delivery in Dublin was delivered the next day.

The survey, conducted by TNS mrbi, is based on the statistical methods set out by the European Standards Institute (CEN).

It measured single piece priority mail which is the standard correspondence used by individuals, organisations and businesses.

The survey did not include bulk mailings.
