ComReg concludes RTÉ dominates

Communications regulator ComReg has found that RTÉ Networks dominates the national transmission of analogue terrestrial radio and television.

The regulator did not investigate whether there was discrimination from the RTÉ operation against competing broadcasters regarding transmission capacity.

The report said that due to RTÉ's position, it would pursue any complaints of such discrimination in the future.

It has said it was difficult to assess whether the national broadcaster's transmission services are provided on a non-discriminatory basis.

RTÉ is due to publish detailed information on transmission charges later this year.
