Jetmagic collapse may affect access to Cork, says IHF
The Cork Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) has expressed disappointment at the collapse of airline Jetmagic after just nine months.
In a statement today the IHF suggested that the loss of the 11 routes from destinations across Europe will result in a gap in access and choice for potential tourists to the Cork region.
The IHF has called on the Government and Aer Rianta to put measures in place which will encourage other carriers to fly into the airport to replace lost air access routes.
IHF Cork Branch Chairman John O'Flynn said today: "Air access to Ireland is one of the most important factors influencing overseas visitors to choose Ireland as a destination. Direct flights to Cork is vital to ensure a more even spread of tourism to the South of Ireland and the loss of these direct routes will have a sharp impact on all tourism providers in the region."
