The number of British companies reporting bad news in 2003 has remained at a record low despite profit warnings rising towards the end of the year, figures showed today.

The number of British companies reporting bad news in 2003 has remained at a record low despite profit warnings rising towards the end of the year, figures showed today.

Auditors Ernst & Young said UK-quoted companies issued just 210 warnings throughout last year, a fall of 40% from the 352 issued in 2002, and well under half the total posted in 2001.
