MMo2 and Trafficmaster extend deal to launch GPRS and 3G services
Trafficmaster PLC said it is extending its six-year relationship with MMo2's O2, the British-based mobile network operator, for a further five years.
Trafficmaster provides traffice updates to motorists, via the company's traffic detection network using wireless technology.
Both companies will work together, to develop existing services and to introduce a range of new services based on GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and 3G (third generation) mobile technology.
MM02 currently holds 3G licences for both Germany and Ireland.
Trafficmaster and O2 will work together to launch a range of new services inlcluding a graphic version of the "TrafficLine" service, available on the XDA hand-held PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).
O2's online services will also be developed enabling customers to access real-time traffic alert information via the O2 website.
