Fingal County Council has rejected a motion to grant Vega City developers a six month window to submit detailed studies and answer viability concerns about their proposed theme park.

Fingal County Council has rejected a motion to grant Vega City developers a six month window to submit detailed studies and answer viability concerns about their proposed theme park.

United Entertainment Partners (UEP) have expressed their disappointment with Fingal County Council's decision.

They now intend to pursue an alternative European location for the €7bn theme park.

The decision follows the submission a month ago of an outline pre-planning proposal by UEP to build Europe's largest theme park incorporating three theme parks on a 2,500 acres site near Balbriggan.

The theme park also proposed to house golf courses, shopping centres, 14 hotels, a conference centre an ice-rink and 10,000 apartments.
