Meath company lands €5m Tesco contract
Largo Food, Ireland's largest crisps and snack food manufacturer yesterday announced it had been awarded an annual €5m contract with Tesco UK to produce a range of snacks for the Tesco own brand label.
As a direct result of the new contract, Largo Foods, which currently employs a total of 450 people will create an additional 28 jobs in its production facility in Gweedore, Donegal. 180 local people are currently employed in the 62,000 sq ft plant.
Head-quartered in Ashbourne Co Meath, Largo Foods produces some of Ireland's best known crisps including Hunky Dorys, Perri and Sam Spudz.
The company has four manufacturing sites in Europe; Meath, Donegal, the Czech Republic and Moldova, from which 45% of output is exported throughout the EU and Eastern Europe.
