Hibernian to reward points-free drivers
Hibernian Insurance will introduce a 10% motor insurance discount for all its customers who are penalty point free, as of November 1 2003, it has been revealed.
The date has been chosen as it is the one-year anniversary of the introduction of the penalty points system.
The company said this may amount to up to €70-€100 reduction in the cost of insurance for some motorists.
Customers are to receive notice of their penalty point discount at the date of their first motor insurance renewal after November 1.
Hibernian say that customers with penalty points who fail to notify the company, will be charged an excess of €2,500 in the event of an accident, and this excess will also apply if any of the drivers named on the policy have penalty points.
Dick O'Driscoll Hibernian's Managing Director said: "We have witnessed a reduction in road fatalities since last November, albeit less than we would have hoped, and we now have to continue to drive this momentum in order to really change and improve peoples' behaviour and attitude on our roads."
