Banking giant Royal Bank of Scotland today said it was buying Dublin-based mortgage lender First Active to merge with its Ulster Bank subsidiary.

Banking giant Royal Bank of Scotland today said it was buying Dublin-based mortgage lender First Active to merge with its Ulster Bank subsidiary.

Edinburgh-based Royal Bank, which also owns the NatWest high street brand, said the combined business would have around 1.3 million personal and business customers and 263 branches across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
