CityJet restart Dublin-London City route
CityJet is to recommence flights from Dublin to London City airport within the next two months after a three-year absence.
Chief Executive Geoffrey White also indicated that the proposed merger between Air France and Dutch airline KLM would allow CityJet to develop further European routes, particularly to Amsterdam.
He also expressed his approval of the Irish Government's plan to break-up Aer Rianta and stated that the policy should proceed without delay.
"I believe that by breaking up the airport monopoly in Ireland we will get better service and better value.
"I also believe that it will provide Dublin airport with an ideal opportunity to become a leading European hub, linking US and European passengers to hundreds of international destinations," White said.
The Air France-owned budget airline currently employs 400 people at Dublin airport and Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris and operates flights on the Dublin-Paris and Dublin-Malaga route.
White made the comments ahead of the annual meeting of the European Regional Airlines Association in Dublin today.
