Department restructured as strategy unveiled
Increased competition and quality employment is a cornerstone to Ireland's future economic growth according to Statement of Strategy issued today.
With that in mind the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is to be restructured to meet future economic trends according to the Tanaiste Mary Harney.
The goals and strategic actions outlined in the Statement include enterprise and innovation, quality work and learning, better regulation, customer service and the European Union.
It also calls for Ireland to build on its track record of growth by adapting to a world where the key competitive advantage is the ability to rapidly translate ideas into goods and services.
Speaking today the Tanaiste said: "To grow our competitiveness, we must drive productivity through increased competition and regulatory reform.
"We must continue to invest in key infrastructure, grow skills, boost investment in Research, Technology and Innovation, and ensure that pay increases are linked to increased productivity and performance," Harney added
