Anger as Dyson switches more work to Far East
Dyson is planning to switch production of washing machines from the UK to Malaysia, with the loss of 65 jobs, the firm announced today.
British union leaders reacted with outrage to the move, which followed last year’s controversial decision to shift output of vacuum cleaners from this country, which cost hundreds of jobs.
Dyson said today it was proposing to switch final assembly of its washing machines from its site at Malmesbury in Wiltshire, UK.
The company said an employee consultation committee would be elected and it pledged to do all it could to help staff find new jobs.
