It was business as usual at the New York Stock Exchange today as trading continued despite the power cuts that wreaked havoc in the city.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited the NYSE today and he rang the opening bell to sound the beginning of trading.

Mayor Bloomberg said he expected the rest of the city’s power to be restored by the end the day.

He urged New Yorkers to use their judgment before heading to work.

“There are worse things than taking a summer Friday off from work,” Bloomberg said.
