EADA to expand in Mississippi

European Aeronautics Defence & Space Co NV (EADS) is to invest an initial US$11m (€15.6m) on a new Eurocopter assembly plant in Mississippi, US.

The company said it began construction of the new site today, recruiting over 100 workers.

EADS co-chief executive Philippe Camus said the company expects to "grow its already significant role in the American economy" and is targeting future expansion in production within the defense and commercial aerospace sectors.

The new site will become part of Eurocopter's US unit, American Eurocopter Corporation.
