The Central Bank has said that the Irish economy is withstanding the worst of the global downturn.

The Central Bank has said that the Irish economy is withstanding the worst of the global downturn.

In it's annual report today, the Central Bank says that while the international scene is "difficult", the economy has been performing relatively well.

Central Bank Governor John Hurley said: "We are not doing too badly and there is evidence Ireland has proved to be resilient in the face of the weaker international economy."
