The company is to invest between €30m and €40m in a new facility.

The project is being backed by the IDA.

Around 300 people are already employed in the company's facility at Baldoyle, Co. Dublin.

Gerard Laboratories is owned by German pharmaceutical company Merck.

In Ireland, Gerard makes tablets and capsules for gastro-intestinal and heart treatment drugs.

The new jobs follows the loss of 250 jobs in North Dublin with the closure of Celetica last week.
