Euro-makers close with cashflow problems
The Birmingham Mint – one of the makers of Euro coins – has been placed in the hands of administrators with the loss of 51 jobs, it emerged today.
The 209-year-old company based in Hockley, Birmingham, manufactures coins for a number of countries but has experienced cash flow problems following the loss of major contracts.
Administrators from KPMG have retained 64 staff and will continue to trade the company while seeking a buyer for the business.
