Mobile users in UK begin ordering 3G
Mobile phone users in the UK today got the chance to pre-order of Britain’s first third-generation service.
But operator Hutchison 3G UK Limited said it did not expect to launch the commercial 3G mobile video and multimedia service for weeks despite widespread speculation that today had been earmarked for the official launch because of its numerical date – 03/03/03.
Edward Brewster, the spokesman of the service which will be known as 3, said the company was “on schedule” with its introduction plans as pre-ordering became available.
