Latest figures show interactive television is a growing market with 245,000 homes subscribed to Sky Interactive.

Several companies are expected to launch their services onto the Irish market in the next six months.

It is hoped that more than €6bn will be spent on the new television service in the next four years in Western Europe.

RTE have admitted that they are looking into the service, but say they are constrained at the moment because of technical and financial problems.
