Pfizer to buy out rival

The pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. is to buy its rival Pharmacia Corporation for $60bn (€60.3bn).

It is the biggest corporate merger in more than a year.

The merger gives Pfizer, which is already the world's largest drug company, full rights to one of the pharmaceutical industry's most prized products, the arthritis product Celebrex.
