Tote splits from Sporting Life initiative

The UK Tote organisation is ending a three-year partnership with Sporting Life to operate totalbet.com.

Since its launch in April, 1999, Totalbet has been jointly run as a partnership between Sporting Life and the Tote.

Tote Credit Ltd acts as the bookmaker, with Sporting Life providing the technology.

It has now been agreed that this partnership will end, with the Tote launching its own internet betting site at tote.co.uk.

Totalbet.com will be run solely by Sporting Life, operating under ukbetting's bookmaker's licence.

This change comes into effect on May 27, and customers will have the option to transfer any existing funds to Totalbet or to the Tote's site.

Both sites will continue to offer a range of betting opportunities on horse racing, sports and other events and both will also accept bets into Tote pools.

The companies state: "This is an exciting development for both the Tote and Sporting Life.

"It means more choice for customers, with two strong brands now operating independently, and should help to expose an even wider audience to the benefits of betting into Tote pools on the internet."
