XIAM signs up North American mobile operator

XIAM the Irish mobile messaging applications company, has announced it is to provide US telecom company Midwest Wireless with a wireless content and messaging platform to increase the range of value added services it offers its subscribers.

XIAM the Irish mobile messaging applications company, has announced it is to provide US telecom company Midwest Wireless with a wireless content and messaging platform to increase the range of value added services it offers its subscribers.

These services include breaking news, sports updates, horoscopes and weather reports, as we as mobile access to e-mail and group messaging.

MidWest Wireless is a wireless services provider which is prepared to be innovative, as evidenced by its work in rolling out SMS wireless messaging services. It is hoped that this contract will raise US awareness of XIAM's messaging technology which is already widely deployed in Europe and Asia.

SMS usage has increased significantly in North America and according to estimated figures from MobileLifestreams there will be a further 75% increase in text message traffic over the coming 12 months.

The growth in text messaging usage has been stimulated by the introduction of interactive mobile messaging services, such as text-voting, games, group messaging and new alerts.
