British Airways PLC said it is to sell a 70% stake in World Network Services (WNS), its India-based data management company to Warburg Pincus, the private equity group.

British Airways PLC said it is to sell a 70% stake in World Network Services (WNS), its India-based data management company to Warburg Pincus, the private equity group.

BA plans to retain a 30% shareholding in WNS.

"The sale of WNS will enhance the future growth prospects and development of the company. It will allow BA to maintain a meaningful stake, whilst pursuing its ongoing strategy to focus on core business," BA said in a statement.

Completion of the transaction is conditional on the receipt of regulatory approval in India.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, BA is scheduled to issue its March traffic figures this afternoon.
