At the launch of the TIU Irish technology Review 2001, on Thursday January 31, at the University Club, Dublin, a large invited audience of technology industry senior management, capital providers, industry advisors and stakeholders, welcomed a guest address by Mr Paul French, Executive Chairman of Equitant.
Mr French described the growth and development of Equitant and its funding by Accretive, the role played by TIU in Equitant's development and the importance of obtaining 'smart money' at a reasonable valuation from key capital providers.
The TIU Irish Technology Review is the 'journal of record' and the source of concise information about technology information about technology, business and financial events in the Irish technology industry. Around 120 pages in length, it covers the 13 quoted Irish technology companies together with 135 private Irish technology companies. It also covers the major technology multinationals in Ireland.
Mr. Garrett Hickey, CEO of TIU Group, highlighted the critical issues presented by the review, in its analysis of over 175 TMT companies across 5 industry segments.
He said: "The year 2001 has seen phenomenal endurance in the consolidating Irish technology, media and telecommunications [TMT] industry. In all segments of the industry there is now greater focus on strategic partnerships, acquisitions, consolidation and value. There has also been a shake out of poorly managed TMT companies, as well as record job losses in the sector. The industry segments, which find favour in 2002 would be wireless and the mobile internet, infrastructure and middleware, enterprise solutions and applications integration, as well as business intelligence."
